Rose Rezaei is a contemporary artist based in North County San Diego whose work explores freedom, resilience, identity, and the quiet strength that emerges through adversity.
After years of working in oil, watercolor, and other traditional media, Rezaei discovered coffee as a medium. Working primarily with coffee on canvas, she transforms coffee—an organic, bitter pigment with rich tonal variations—into a distinctive visual language of layered washes, expressive gestures, erosion, and negative space.
Her ongoing Freedom series centers on women navigating adversity, limitation, and transformation, often through obscured faces, restrained postures, and expansive negative space. Her second series, The Untamed, explores freedom through wild animals, celebrating their beauty, power, and instinctive spirit. Though different in subject, both series are connected by a deeper interest in inner strength and the desire to remain true to one’s nature.
Through her paintings, Rezaei creates space for reflection, recognition, and connection, inviting viewers to bring their own memories and emotions into the work.
